    Hello

    I’m planing to start a video streaming website(true streaming) for its registered members(commercial) and looking for a good hosting compny.My video contents will be around under 50GB.average file size of each video is about 20-30MB and in flash format. I will expect around 500+ users will be logged in the same time to view videos.So basically I’m looking the best and reasonable host that will suite for above requirements.( Quality,speed,space….etc…)

    Upload Streaming Video Files to my Website?
    Hello, as of this moment I am hosting my website through Hostgator.com and using the wordpress feature. Unfortunately they limit the streaming video size to only 65 MB. Is there a way or program for me to use or sign up to upload video files sizes much grader lets say at least 500 MB. I am not interested in sites like youtube or megavideo because the video files are hosted in other sites, I would like to host the streaming video files from my website. THANK YOU

      You would need a new web host as there is no way to “get around” their limit.
      Never seen a website allowing more than 100MB.
      Note that your website is liable to comply with copyright law just the same as the YouTube site is

    Video chat hosting on my laptop, but the computer freezes. What laptop specs will allow me to solve this prob?
    I chat on about 5 websites at the same time. Recently i like using my laptop to chat but it freezes after 2 sites load. Most use a java based chat system witch seems to use a lot of resourses. First i guess im wondering what i need to improve on my computer to stop this. Is it Ram, Processor, Video card?

    Anyway it runs ok with 2 sites now and my laptop is a dell, p3 1.2 mhz and 256 ram. It’s hard to compair laptops and desktops because my desktop will run all 5 sites and has about the same specs..

    If i upgraded to 1 gb of ram would that likley solve my problem or do i need to get a new faster laptop.. BTW, basically the laptop runs 5 concurrent video streams but it just slows down and eventually crashes if i try to run 3 sites. I really think the java applet each site uses is sucking up all my ram but i’m not really sure.

      I think more memory should be a good start. If you really want to be able to run well you should get something faster, mabe a p4 or amd turion, the faster the better. I would also insist on at least 1 GB of ram

    Which one is the fastest and most consistent video hosting and streaming server?
    I have my own little website and i put alot of sport videos on it (usually 1:30 – 2 hour long ones) therefore i used loombo, videoweed as my video hosting. I just used to upload my videos and i could just embedd it on my webpage with no problem. But lately my visitors started to complain they’ve gone terribly slow when streaming, especially the videoweed. So my question is that is there any other fast servers that i can upload my FLV files and gives me the embedding option? which one would you suggest? thanks

    What video hosting sites allow streaming playback in their native resolution, versus Youtube’s cruddy quality?
    Well, like the question asks, what are some video hosting sites which offer streaming playback (like YouTube), in their native resolutions (unlike YouTube)?

    You Tube has started to grow the wrong way on me. At first it was this “oh so great” video site. Now, I notice video after video at cruddy quality levels, making most of them even a waste of time to watch. For this reason, it would be apparent that a “better” hosting site will prevail through this Youtube age we are at.

    Let’s hear what you feel is the “best” currently. Remember, they must offer video streaming, not just a file hosting site.

    video streaming on my website?
    I am making a website and wish to show some high quality/definition videos on there and was wondering how i could stream them? I thought about YouTube but even the high quality videos on there are quite low definition.     If I’m hosting streaming music and link it back to iTunes, what are the legal issues?
    I have integrated a system so it allows for audio streaming and video. Now I’m an authorized affiliate partner with iTunes.

    I just want to know if I upload like 5,000 songs on my site, and allow the public to listen. Next to the audio it allows you to click and buy the sing directly from itunes.

    Host Streaming Video?
    I want to start a website where I can host streaming video from peoples webcams. I want each visitor to be able to have an account that no one else can see. For example, if someone has a webcam at their home they can create an account, plug in their webcam and then log in to see the image or have emailed to their cell phone. I can seem to find a company who offers individual accounts like this. And to have this programmed is very expensive. Any ideas on who does this? I would like unlimited number of accounts and easy plug in for the visitor.

      i did a quick search for chat – priv – webcam and i got this for a server software looks like u could host it off any site and prob configure to what you need 1 on 1 open chat e-mail etc
      have to pay for it i bet its alot cheaper then others

    Does anyone know of any sites that will host videos and radio streams for free? I have been using ORB, but I can’t keep my computer on all of the time.     I want to start an internet radio station. I need to find hosting companies that host streaming audio?
    I want to start and internet radio station and a lot of hosting companies do not host streaming audio. I went to one that did and found that their customer service lacks tact and patience. I have never tried anything like this before and the program I want to use for the streaming audio needs 50 GB bandwidth. I found with my old hosting company has more than enough bandwidth but does not host streaming audio or video. Any suggestions?

      Yeah… good luck with that. There’s no host that provides enough bandwidth and storage for something like that without charging. And the required bandwidth alone will cost a small fortune… especially if you plan to allow people to embed videos on other sites like YouTube does.

    Does anyone know if there is a site like YouTube or Vimeo that uses a secure RTMP protocol so that things like “Video Download Helper” for Firefox won’t be able to nab the video? Ideally without having to pay. Hulu uses this true secure streaming that I’m speaking of (YouTube and most others use either progressive download or pseudo-streaming)… I really don’t want users to be able to easily just rip my videos because I’m hoping to make profit

    Flash flv streaming video hosting help!?
    Currently I have a plan with Limelight Networks that is up in a 2 months, I am looking for a much cheaper streaming video server for my business. Limelight is nice because I can just log into their server through IE and just drag my files to their server then just insert the url of the video into dreamweaver. I am looking though for something a little cheaper, we get about 100 hits a day on our site and our current plan is for way higher volume I believe. So what is a good server I can do the same thing with but cheaper?

      You might consider a pay-as-you-go type of service with your small volume. I’m using Streaming Video Provider for that purpose and they have way more features than Limelight especially in the embedding and customization part. For me the prepaid packages are the cheapest option – no monthly costs and you can get a bargain on a larger package once you get your usage. Also scaling with limelight is a nightmare way too expensive IMO.

      Nudity, but NOT porn… Hmmm. How would such a site regulate live streaming video to insure that the line between nudity and porn isn’t crossed? How would such a site insure that streamed video does not reach minor children?

      Considering the legal hurdles that would be required to fend off multitudes of lawsuits, I somehow doubt that such a site could exist.

      They’re all equally good. Hosting like that has a very large throughput, and you can stream video from any of them. Cheap hosting tends to bit a bit unstable, however, and I recommend investing a bit more.

      We are talking of STREAMING (real time video), as opposed to “Video downloads” (NOT real time)
      You should look at TWO things:
      - The monthly bandwidth (the TOTAL of kb, Mb sent per month) and
      - The instant Bandwith (How many kb/Mb?sec the server is capable of uploading. This will define the maximum number of CONCURRENT visitors).
      Assuming that you stream at 150k/s, to 1000 simultaneous visitors, you need a bandwith of 150,000 kb/sec – 150 Mb/sec – and a server capable out issuing that. This is where your costs are important: that link can only be achieved by fiber optics and very fast machines.
      The total bandwidth, at that stage, become irrelevant.
      Say you have an instant bandwidth of 500kb/s: you can only have 3 visitors at once. If you have 4, your server is overloaded, and the streaming will be braking up! If you have these 4 visitors for a few minutes in a whole month, your monthly bandwidth will be still nothing, but you will have 4 disappointed visitors.

    help needed with web video streaming / hosting / encoding / webcasts?
    I have a 1 hour 45 minute video as an AVI I want to put on the web. I am in the UK using a PC. I edit using Premiere Pro on a Matrox RTX100 system.

    I have encoding software from both Adobe and Matrox.

    Any advice / suggestions / pointers / pitfalls of how best to do this (with minimal cost and hassle). Thanks

      Hi,

      With regards to streaming video, you have to take into account the following factors:

      bitrate
      how many simultaneous viewers at any one time
      size of the video you want to show on screen.

      My suggestion is to get a relatively small shared hosting account (i provide them from 99p per month). and for an extra £2.99 I can provide you with a dedicated streaming account for you to upload your streaming files to.

      Host the files you wish to stream on your shared account, and as soon as a few people start watching it, your resources will be eaten up very quick….. and your bandwidth too.

    What is the best Video Hosting?
    I’m about to lauch a video site which has around 170-210 videos to be placed. Now I’m looking for a best video streaming hosting that can cater my needs.

    Each video is around 700mb – 1gb and about an hour or so mins.

      Hi Alvin,

      I highly recommend getting a managed dedicated server. A regular hosting account (shared) will not sustain the traffic or resources consumed by your video site. All shared hosting providers have rules in such a way that if one consumes a tad bit more resources than the other web sites on the same server, that websites gets automatically suspended. A dedicated server will guarantee the resources you need without having to worry about getting suspended (nothing is “unlimited” of course).

      I personally recommend a quad-core dedicated server with a 500GB hard drive. Here’s the reasoning:

      Let’s assume you have about 190 videos (average) and each is 850mb (also average). That’s a total of 190*850mb = 161GB. You will need at least 161GB just for the videos. The 500GB disk will give you room for additional videos, growth, and backup. Server management is essential so that the software you need gets installed without you having to mess around with the system.

    Video broadcast software for streaming..?
    The Communication ministry at church had a meeting about some stuff, and we are looking into doing video streaming.
    What types of software should we need for streaming church services over the internet? I just found a video stream host, but we just need some software on getting it streamed to the server, from the cameras.

    Does yahoo web hosting support streaming video?
    I’m trying to decide which web hosting company to sign up with but I need the company to support streaming video. Surprisingly, GoDaddy.com doesn’t. Any thoughts?
